新年を迎えてあっという間に1か月が過ぎようとしています。

さて、みなさんは初詣には行かれましたか？（もう1月も終わりですが・・・）

外国には「初詣」の文化はなく日本独自の文化です。

ただし「新年に神聖な場所を訪れて祈る」という考え方自体は、世界各地にあるみたいです。

「初詣」を外国の方に説明できますか？

私たちは「初詣」と一言で表せるものが英語になると

Hatsumode is a traditional Japanese custom of visiting a shrine or temple at the beginning of the New Year

to pray for health, happiness, and success in the coming year.

Many people go with their family or friends between January 1st and 3rd.

During the visit, they wash their hands to purify themselves and offer thanks and wishes to the gods or Buddha.

People also enjoy drawing fortune slips called *omikuji* and buying protective charms.

It is an important cultural event that helps people start the New Year with a fresh and positive mindset.

初詣（はつもうで）は、日本で新しい年を迎えたときに、神社やお寺を訪れて一年の健康や幸せ、成功を願う伝統的な行事です。

多くの人は1月1日から3日ごろに家族や友人と参拝します。

参拝では手を洗って心身を清め、神さまや仏さまに感謝とお願いを伝えます。

また、おみくじで運勢を占ったり、お守りを買ったりするのも楽しみの一つです。
